Missouri Master Naturalist Capstone Project

Built for Peace, Designed for Presence

As part of the Missouri Master Naturalist capstone, our team developed Missouri Medicinals, a thoughtfully researched and designed guide celebrating the healing power of Missouri’s native plants. The project merges science, tradition, and storytelling to honor the relationship between people and plants, past and present.

This guide features 10 native Missouri plants, each presented with their medicinal uses, historical and cultural significance, cultivation tips, sustainable harvesting practices, and recipes for everyday use—from teas and tinctures to salves and syrups.

The Orb Web contributed full design, layout, copywriting, and illustration, creating an educational tool that is as beautiful as it is practical, an invitation to reconnect with the land and the knowledge it holds.

Missouri Medicinals is more than a plant guide—it’s a quiet act of reconnection. A tool to reawaken forgotten knowledge, nurture ecological awareness, and remind us that medicine doesn’t always come in bottles—sometimes, it grows just outside the door.
